Tasty treats for everyone

Published Feb. 7, 2010 at 1:10 a.m.
It may not look like much on the outside, but Old Wives Tales has some seriously great stuff going on inside. I've gone for breakfast (German pancake with lemon sauce = amazing) and lunch and have never left hungry or disappointed. The prices are a little higher than I'd like to pay for a sandwich ($11-13ish), but the flavors make up for setting aside budget restraints for the day.A big plus for many in the Portland area, is that they have a large variety of gluten free (almost 90% of their menu), vegetarian and vegan options (even dessert). They are famous for their Hungarian Mushroom soup and for good reason: it's incredible. Savory and creamy, the soup has made it to my plate every visit, and I have no intention of changing that habit. It's a large enough place that you can bring many people, but it's popular so make sure to make reservations beforehand. Happy eating!
